The north east has a high percentage of elderly inhabitants. County Durham has high percentage of over 65s, accounting for around 19% of the overall population. Since 2001, the number of over 65s has increased by 21%, which is more than the regional increase of 14.6% and the national increase of 18.8%. Windlestone Hall is possibly one of the most significant buildings in the north east. Previously the birthplace of former prime minister Sir Anthony Eden, the hall sits on extensive grounds and is located close to the North York Moors, Yorkshire Dales and the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

This Grade II listed hall will undergo sympathetic refurbishment to create a selection of around 45+ spacious en-suite apartments. The extensive grounds the hall sits on will be utilised to create a further 40 luxury apartments.
